With a vast repertoire encompassing many styles, my ability to adapt for each engagement will enhance your special event.

Paul Smith has been performing piano at weddings and dinner parties professionally since the 80’s. He also caters for birthday parties, anniversaries and corporate events etc.

I usually perform on my own excellent Yamaha digital piano with a PA system (and only require a plug point) but am happy to play any piano provided by you or the venue provided it is in good working order.

The volume of particularly amplified music is often of some concern. I specialise in playing music that you can listen to and talk over. If you find the volume is  unacceptable, please let me know. It will not be a problem!

With many hours of music committed to memory, the repertoire is varied, huge and often updated. Although I can play most styles of music, I do enjoy playing ballads and jazzy swing music. Nat King Cole, Sinatra, Gershwin, Elton John, Lionel Richie, Queen, Abba, Van Morrison, Beatles the list goes on and on. Other repertoire is made up from jazz, blues, film, show music, some classical and even tunes from the Disney and Pixar films (including Frozen! for the younger guests.)

If you would like to hear something in particular I will do my best to carry out your request and if given notice before the engagement, I should be able to learn it.

The melody is played on either the Soprano, Alto, Tenor or Baritone Saxophone (and occasionally the clarinet) and is accompanied by pre recorded backing tracks on the keyboard. The music will feature tunes that you will want to tap your foot, sing along or even dance to. There is music to suit all tastes from jazz, blues, pop and ballads.

An option to include the piano with the saxophone is available.

Formed in 1996, P.R Jazz is a Jazz Duo or Quartet that can expand to a Seven-piece band or for the more intimate occasion, a two-piece.

Music is made up from the great jazz standards of the last century and is suitable for background and foreground music. Artists including Ella Fitzgerald, George Benson, Spyro Gyra, Duke Ellington, Sonny Rollings, Stan Getz, Benny Goodman are among many more that are featured in making up the repertoire. Classics such as All of me, Don’t get around much any more and Jersey bounce will be heard in a typical session.

P. S Jazz is a guitar and saxophone duo that specialises in gentle music you can listen to and still talk over. The ensemble is named after the players who are Paul Smith and Paul Sogaard.

The duo is acoustic which is without amplification. One benefit is this ensemble is more mobile than groups with the need for electricity or a drum set up. Another benefit is that musically, this ensemble is more ‘organic’ leading for some expressive and creative moments between the two instruments.

The repertoire typically used has been chosen specifically for the soothing and relaxing ambience. Examples of some of the pieces P S Jazz performs are classics such as Over the Rainbow, Angel Eyes, Misty and Gershwin’s beautiful melody Summertime. Of course we do perform livelier pieces such as St Thomas, Satin Doll and Take the A Train should the mood be right.

P S Jazz is ideal entertainment for dinner parties, wedding receptions and other intimate situations enabling your guests to relax and enjoy your special celebrations while still able to enjoy a conversation.

Trading In Jazz

Formed in 1994, Trading in Jazz is a lively seven-piece Traditional and Dixie Jazz Band.

The Fabulous All Stars have plenty of experience for the grand Occasion. All members of the band are professional musicians and create a stage presence that many competitors envy.

The strength of the band is in its versatility. With a male and female lead vocalist and other musicians that double as vocalists, repertoire covers many styles including Blues, Soul, Popular and Reggae. The brass section add a dynamic to the band generating an infectious enthusiasm that will enthuse your guests. A typical engagement will include the music of The Blues Brothers, Van Morrison, Bob Marley, Otis Redding and so the list goes on.
